MASH BASH is back with our annual veteran's benefit dance set for Saturday, November 6th at a great, new venue ... Boomtown Hotel Casino. Doors will open at 6 with music from 6:15 or 6:30 until 10:40 or a little after.
Two great bands, one new to us and another more recent addition will provide the musical entertainment. Trippin' King Snakes with guitar master Mick Clarke and dynamic frontman David Warner will open and be followed by Mudd Bonz, fronted by the talented Dennis McMasters on vocals and harmonica and his great band from South Lake Tahoe.
Tickets are $25 BUT RBS members with dues being paid (current) get a $5 rebate at the door.
Greetings RBS Members and blues fans,
New Dues Year for All RBS Memberships Begins July 1st
We're moving to a one-time-of-year for all memberships (except lifetime trustees), with everyone being due July 1st and running through June 30th of the following year.
With our membership chair Pam Farmer moving away and no one to replace her and to be more in line with other organizations having a set calendar time of year for all memberships, the RBS is doing that, as well. If you've joined in the last six months or so, you're good until next July, but if you joined last year, we're going on the honor system for you to please renew your membership.
Yearly memberships are $20 for an individual or $30 for a family (or for an individual for two years) and lifetime trustee memberships are $200 (pay once and never pay again!). You can do this via our PayPal link in the "Join RBS" panel below, or make a check payable to the Reno Blues Society and mail it to Reno Blues Society, P.O. Box 10742, Reno, NV 89510.
I hope to see everyone renew soon.

RBS Offering Music Scholarships
The Reno Blues Society is now accepting applications for music students (voice or instrument) based on need. The scholarships will be $500 each and we plan to award three or four each year, depending on fundraising success and number of applicants.
We previously reached out to the music teachers at the Washoe County School District high schools and we are now opening this up to the general public. The brief nomination process is outlined below. Once this program is up and running we will accounce the deadline.
- Include name of student, year in school, and the reason he or she needs the music scholarship. (A few paragraphs are fine. We don't need a long essay on this).
- Student should be economically disadvantaged so that the scholarship would allow him or her to buy an instrument he/she is now renting or borrowing or pursue some private lessons.
- Student has demonstrated a real interest and talent in music, ideally blues, jazz or rock but not limited to those genres.
- Name, email and phone number of music teacher making the nomination.
- Include all this information for each student nominated, up to three nominees per high school.
- Send nominations with all requested information via email to email@example.com
- Student(s) awarded the grant and nominating teacher agree to be present at a future Reno Blues Society Dance (tbd) for a brief awards' ceremony.
